Introduction
The EDEN Incubators, originally conceived in 2020, aim to provide a platform to individuals, groups and institutions with innovative, sustainable and inclusive ideas to present their vision and projects to a larger and diverse audience of like-minded individuals. The EDEN Incubators emphasize in particular ideas for the public good, science-based, and emanating from universities and emerging & developing countries.
History of the EDEN Incubators
The commitment to rally attention, support, networks and mentoring capacities to young scientists and entrepreneurs from emerging & developing countries is at the heart of EDEN members. In December 2020 a pilot event was launched under the heading ‘EDEN Incubators: Projects That Can Transform the World’. At the time two fresh alumni of Shizenkan University in Tokyo presented outlines of their personal projects -- one on the environmental challenges and opportunities in the mining industry, the other on sustainable fashion.
In parallel, the Afghan Fellowship Legacy Projects (AFLP), the partner platform of EDEN launched the Botanical Gardens Network (BG-Net) in Afghanistan in 2020 with an inaugural EDEN seminar, The BG-Net project followed the same principles and frameworks laid out for the EDEN Incubators and continued till August 2021.
