The goal of the EDEN Seminars is to rethink development paradigms, working with partners in Japan and worldwide to identify and present new solutions for current global challenges of poverty and inequality, conflict and violence, environmental collapse and cultural alienation—articulating new ideas through the lenses of scientific and technological innovation, sustainability and reciprocity — keeping the intellectual and developmental history of Japan as a frame of reference.
Three major EDEN Seminars were held in the early years of the pilot phase, as follows:
Jan. 31, 2020: EDEN’s third seminar brought together the Afghan ambassador to Japan, the architect Hiroshi Naito, and Nassrine Azimi, senior advisor from UNITAR to discuss how building a network of botanical gardens in Afghanistan could help build a brighter future for its citizens and other developing nations that adopt this unique model.
